Founder - 4 Weeks 2 Failure
What is 4 Weeks 2 Failure? 
The best way for me to explain this project, concept, idea is for me to tell you a little bit about myself.  

My name is Adam Corrigan. I grew up playing rugby in Australia, captaining teams like the West Australian School Boys, Western Australian U19 and U21 Rugby teams as well as the Sunshine Coast Breakers Rep teams.  

I also started Taekwondo at the age of six, going on to become a 5x Australian Champion, 2x British Champion, 4x South African Champion, a multiple International medalist and an Open World Champion.

Even after all this success; I remember playing great through the Craven Week trials, but in the final trial, I played the worst game of the season. Unfortunately, I didn’t play in that fierce and competitive South African Rugby Championship.

While excelling with Taekwondo, my dreams had me focused on going to the Olympics. After winning the Australian Olympic trials in 2003, I watched the 2004 Athens games from my apartment. Miserable but determined, I knew I had 4 years to train for the next one. 

I moved to England where I was selected to train full time in their National and Olympic Programs from 2007 to 2009, but again watched the 2008 Beijing games from my home in London where I knew I could have been on the podium. 

As time passed, I couldn’t help but wonder, how could the people I’ve beaten in the past have progressed much further to win World and Olympic medals? How could I have been so good and work so hard, yet fall short right before the finish line?  

I grew up playing sports with the mentality I needed to win every game or fight. When dealing with losses, it would eat me alive while keeping me awake at night. This frustration alone caused numerous setbacks in my career.   

I realize I have a fear of failure.  It wasn’t others beating me, it was me beating myself. With age and wisdom, I’ve learned that every game or fight I’ve lost has made me a better person. It was these failures that pushed me to practice more, train harder and compete better than my opposition. 

I have to ask myself these simple questions: Was I afraid to make it to the next level? Was I afraid to become who I knew I could be? Would success push me even harder?  Was I ready to be pushed to my limit? 

Whether in sports, education or finance, the same Success vs Failure theory applies: You need to be okay with failing to truly be successful.  

So to get over my fear of failure, I’ll be challenging myself as well as those around me to push ourselves to failure. Then go through failure, to become who we’re supposed to be in life.   
The Challenge
Challenge yourself every 4 weeks to do something completely out of your comfort zone that will likely end in failure or close to it. Set out to do something you wouldn’t usually do because its either too hard, too difficult, or because you know you won’t finish.    

Remember, the more you fail the more you’ll grow. Learning from them is what prepares us for the next level.      

Every 4 weeks I’ll be providing you with optional fitness and nutrition challenges you can participate in to ensure your health is at the optimal level for you to function successfully.     

I can’t wait to share my journey with you through all its challenges and lessons. I hope that witnessing my failures will act as a guide to help coach you to achieve even better success with the endeavors in your life.

My First Challenge 
27th Annual America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride – Lake Tahoe  Sunday June 3, 2018
Ok, I'm sweating already for this one! My biking experience goes as far as riding my cruiser to the pub for a few beers. Maybe a few miles at the most. But I'll be doing 100 miles at 4000-6000 feet altitude on June 3rd! I'm excited, but know that it will take about 6 hours to finish and climbing up mountains isn't going to be fun. However, its for a great cause and money will be raised for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. More details are below.

Start – Finish: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride will take place rain or shine. Event organizers have the right to delay the start time or alter the course options should possible inclement weather present it self on ride day. Please continue to check this website for updates the week prior to the event. 

America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride will Start and Finish in “Parking Lot C” of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe (formerly Horizon Casino) on Highway 50, Stateline, South Shore Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Bike the West is extremely pleased to be hosted by the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe as they have invested $60+ Million in a complete renovation of the property, and will be offering an outstanding updated venue with a variety of restaurants, lounges, gaming and newly renovated accommodations.

We are also pleased to stage our Americas Most Beautiful Bike Ride After Ride Party at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Most Beautiful
The 72-mile America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride circumnavigates the highways clockwise around Lake Tahoe in both Nevada and California. It includes a challenging 800 foot climb to a rest stop overlooking Emerald Bay and a 1,000 foot climb to Spooner Junction.

There are also many short rolling ascents and descents totaling over 4,024 vertical feet of elevation gain! The altitude ranges between 6,300 feet and 7,100 feet above sea level and the ride is recommended for conditioned recreational bicyclist, not for beginners.

Participants must be at least 14 years of age (please, no children on bike carriers or trailers) and must be experienced in riding roadways.
